DENOISE

Denoise grew out of changes in Bai’s hearing, persistent tinnitus, and a hearing test. The resulting audiogram became the basis for a custom program that translates everyday sounds into lines, waveforms, and diagrams. He selects, crops, and recombines these outputs, developing the paintings through daily, successive layers of hand painting. In the installation, visitors’ drum strikes feed into the same system, driving the imagery in real time. The sounds are also recorded and replayed later at random, bringing traces of earlier actions back into the space.

《去噪》始于听力变化、持续耳鸣与听力检测。检测留下的听力图成为柏志威组织声音与图像的程序结构。日常声音进入程序后生成线条、波形与图表，他从中选择、截取和重组，再通过逐日手绘、覆盖与叠加形成绘画。展览中，观众敲击鼓面的声音进入同一系统，实时驱动画面，同时被记录并在之后随机回放，使此前敲击留下的声音在不同时间重新进入现场。
