Denoise originates from my long-term experience of tinnitus and the visual language of the audiogram. The circles, crosses, and testing lines used in hearing examinations are designed to record and measure auditory conditions. In this work, these clinical symbols are transformed into a visual system that can be continuously reorganized through computation.

Within the exhibition, a sound installation continuously produces sound, which travels through the space and enters a custom-built program. Responding in real time to changes in frequency, amplitude, and duration, the program causes the symbols of the audiogram to shift, scale, overlap, and recombine. The images are not predetermined outcomes, but continuously emerge through the interaction between sound, space, and computation.

During the development of the paintings, I capture selected moments from the program and subject these images to further layering, displacement, and changes of scale. I then translate them onto canvas, layer by layer. Through repeated revision, concealment, and accumulation, computational structures gradually become material traces of paint.

Rather than attempting to eliminate noise or represent tinnitus, Denoise examines how perception is reorganized through measurement, generation, and painting. From clinical testing, spatial sound, and computation to the acts of capturing, selecting, and repainting, each system preserves certain information while filtering, obscuring, or altering something else. The work is not concerned with recovering a complete and authentic original experience, but with how our understanding of reality is gradually formed through continuous acts of recognition, selection, and denoising.
