The Wanderer Chapter Ⅲ :Chants of the Unanchored

When physical spaces undergo drastic shifts and torrents of information rush in, "whereabouts unknown" is no longer confined to the suspended meaning of external objects; it quietly internalizes into a drifting state of the individual spirit.

The act of wandering deepens here, transitioning from outward observation toinward exploration and self-establishment. As the independent exhibition unit of this exhibition, Chants of the Unanchoredpresents Memory Drift, a series of works by artist Zhiwei Bai spanning over adecade. Continuing his consistent fieldwork-based creative approach, theartist engages in site-specific practice in Shenzhen. He focuses on his family's business experiences with the Buji agricultural market and container transport

in the 1990s, exploring the state of objects and sites detached from their original contexts, and how technology intervenes to reconstruct these fading everyday memories. Through this artistic practice, Zhiwei Bai allows these unanchored objects, supported by media, to become coordinates reflecting the individual'sspiritual state. Ultimately, within the continuous intertwining and reconstruction of objects and the self, the drifting perception breaks free from disorder, establishing a brand-new internal order.
